This one in the town of Sunnyside, WA is a 1 million gallon fresh water reservoir. Maybe you have seen it perched atop the residential hill on Skyline Drive. Take a look around where you live and you will see these structures that help ensure a supply of flowing water into your home.
Water towers are generally used for reserve water flow during a case of failed powered water pumps. They also can be used to subsidize the pumps during peak water usage hours, in the morning times, for example, then refilled during off-peak hours.
It’s interesting to think about the importance of infrastructure, water towers, pipes and gravity to the thirst of living things all around the world.

Like sentinels they stand, often visible for miles, marking the location of the communities they guard.
In arid climates, water storage and conservation are crucial. Water towers are reminders of the ingenuity that delivers and stores water and the importance of being good stewards of it.

Water is such an important resource for all to have. Living there was fun at the time. We here on Camano Island even conserve water during the summer. Not watering the lawns only the plants.
Conservation is one of the solutions to ensuring us for the future.
Thank you.
